Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our brother, Rev. Vernon M. Visick died on Sunday, June 18, 2017.
He is survived by two brothers: John Visick of Oak Harbor, WA, and Paul Visick of Monrovia, CA, and by 4 nephews and 2 nieces. Condolences may be sent to Vernon’s close friend John Forney at 644 West 8th Street, Claremont, CA 91711.
A funeral will be held on July 12, 2017, at 3:30 pm at Decker Hall, Pilgrim Place, 625 Mayflower Road, Claremont, CA 91711.
Vernon was raised in the family of an EUB minister before being ordained in the United Methodist Church in 1964. In ministry, he focused on teaching and working in the areas of ethics and social justice. He retired in 2004.
He had a passion for justice, a keen sense of humor and a big heart for “the least of these.” He had many hobbies including pursuing a private pilot’s license, learning to tear apart and rebuild a Saab 900 motor, photography, and music. He was especially fond of Gilbert and Sullivan.
Memorial gifts may be sent in Vernon’s name to the Citizen’s Climate Lobby, 1330 Orange Avenue, #309, Coronado, CA 92118, or the Academy of Evangelical Scientists and Ethicists, 2508 Lalor Road, Oregon, WI 53575-2108.
Let us continue to give God thanks for Vernon’s life and witness and hold the Visick family close in prayer. In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
