Rev. Joseph C. Hurd

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
 
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our brother, Rev. Joseph C. Hurd died on Monday, June 19, 2017.
 
He is survived by his two children, Mary Chace of Crowley, TX and Joseph Hurd of Philadelphia, PA; and by 6 Grandchildren. Condolences may be sent to Joseph Hurd,  4724  Shelmire Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19136.
 
A memorial service was held Friday, June 30, 2017 at 6:00 pm at the American Legion Oxley Post 133 in Philadelphia. UMC Pastor Fred Day will officiate. Joseph will be interred at a Military ceremony at the Dallas Ft-Worth Federal Cemetery in November.
 
Joe served the First, Corcoran, Etna, Greenfield, and Porterville churches before retiring in 2006.
 
Through Habitat for Humanity, every year for almost a decade, Joseph joined a team of other retirees helping to rebuild in New Orleans after Katrina.  Memorial gifts may be sent in Joe’s name to Habitat for Humanity, 121 Habitat Street, Americus, GA 31709-3498.
 
Let us continue to give God thanks for Joe’s life and witness and hold the Hurd family close in prayer.  In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
