Waunita Walker, surviving spouse of the Rev. Carl Walker, died on Friday, October 1, 2010. She is survived by two daughters: Leila McGowan of Sunnyvale, and Doris Britschgi of Campbell; and by two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service is planned for Friday, November 5 at 1 p.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church in Chico. The Rev. David Vallelunga will preside.
Carl and Waunita Walker served the Parlier, Laton, Five Points, Delano, Burlingame, and Chico: Trinity churches before retiring in 1980. Carl Walker also served as Superintendent for the Redwood Empire District, 1956-1962 and as Superintendent of the Sacramento-Nevada District, 1966-1971. Carl Walker died in 2004.
