Death of Rev. Rodrigo Estrada

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our brother, Rev. Rodrigo De Guzman Estrada, died on September 2, 2021.

Rev. Estrada began his ministry in the California-Nevada Conference in 1980, serving among us as a clergy-member  of the United Church of Christ. In 1982, his ordination was recognized by the California-Nevada Conference, and he was received into full membership as a United Methodist Elder.  He served Alpaugh UMC; Oakland, Melrose UMC; Hayward, First UMC; Daly City UMC; and San Francisco, Geneva Avenue UMC. He retired in 1995.
Rod was born in Santa Ana, Manila on June 1, 1930.  Prior to coming to California-Nevada he served churches in the Wyoming and New York Conferences of The United Methodist Church.  Rod was a lover of books and reading.

Rod is survived by his wife, Ruth Estrada, and by his children Ishmael Estrada, Alison Kofford and Marcus Estrada, and by one grandchild. He was predeceased by his first wife Loida Estrada in 1993, and his second wife Phoebe Estrada in 2013.

Condolences may be sent to Ruth Estrada at 82 Purok 2 Buguion, Calumpit Bulacan, 3003 Philippines, Philippines.

A memorial service was held in the Philippines on September 2, 2021 at Gate of Heaven Memorial Chapel and Crematorium.
Let us continue to give God thanks for Rod’s life and witness and hold his family close in prayer.  In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
