Pastor Kent Savage

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It is with deep sadness that I inform you of the death of Honorably Located Pastor Kent Savage.  Kent was born on June 4, 1941, in Kimball, Nebraska.  He died on June 8, 2021, just days after his 80th birthday due to COVID.
Kent began his ministry in 1962 in the then Rocky Mountain Conference.  He went on to serve in the Nebraska Conference before coming to serve in the California-Nevada Conference.  He served at our Caruthers church from 1966-1970 and then at Farmersville church from 1970-72.  He requested and was granted a leave of absence in 1972.  In 1973 he requested to be placed on Honorable Location which he was granted.  He then moved to Phoenix, Arizona and located at Epworth United Methodist Church in what is today the Desert Southwest Conference.  He was an active member of this congregation and was deeply involved in the Conference’s camping and retreat ministry.  Upon relocating to the Phoenix area, he began a new career in the IT industry.
He is survived by three daughters, Mary Kay Mills, Elizabeth Pulley, and Rebecca Fitzpatrick, five grandchildren and one great-grandson, his sister, Linda Newberry and brother, Steve Savage as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service was held in his memory on June 14, 2021, at Epworth UMC of Phoenix, Arizona.  His family requests that memorial donations in Kent’s memory be made to Mingus Camp Scholarships, a ministry he passionately supported.  Donations to this scholarship fund can be sent in Kent’s memory to the Desert Southwest Conference at PO BOX 32830, Phoenix AZ 85064 or online at referencing in memory of Mr. Kent Savage.
Let us continue to give God thanks for Kent’s life and witness and hold his family close in prayer.  In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
