Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our sister, Peggy Baldwin, spouse of Rev. Donald L. Baldwin, died on Tuesday, January 26, 2021.
Peggy was a faithful companion as her husband Donald began his ministry in 1964 serving El Portal Community Church near Yosemite National Park and then as Resident Minister for Yosemite National Park from 1965-1969. In 1969, Don transferred to the Kansas East Conference and served there with United Ministries in Higher Education at Kansas University. He returned to the California-Nevada Conference in 1977 and served the Kings Beach and Truckee, California churches. In 1984 he was appointed to serve as the Conference Multi-Media Arts Minister. In 1986, he went on to serve the Aptos, California church until his retirement in 1999.
Peggy had her own special gifts and calling. She was an amazing actress, having roles in Off Broadway, New York City, and in national summer stock dramas. She also directed many theater productions, especially at Kansas University. She took great joy in the arts of theater, dance, and music.
She loved nature particularly animal and sea life of every kind. Her heart bore special compassion for those who suffer, whether caused by war, famine, political turmoil, or global warming, and consistently acted upon these concerns. Peggy and Don loved to travel. Their 56 years of marriage were blessed by many fond memories of the beautiful places they were able to visit.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Rev. Donald L. Baldwin of Nevada City, California, by her daughters Eve S. Baldwin of Encinitas, California and Joy R. Simonick of Foresthill, California, one sister, Linda Bishop & her husband Floyd, as well as two nieces, Lisa and Rebecca Potter.
Condolences may be sent to Rev. Donald L. Baldwin at 12541 Gayle Lane, Nevada City, CA 95959.
Due to the pandemic, a memorial service will be held online at a time to be determined.
Gifts in memory of Peggy may be sent to the National Audubon Society at https://www.audubon.org/ or the Hospitality House in Grass Valley at https://hhshelter.org/
Let us continue to give God thanks for Peggy’s life and witness and hold her family close in prayer. In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
