Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our brother, W. Kent Dillon, spouse of retired local pastor Debbie Dillon, died on Wednesday, December 16, 2020.
Kent was a faithful companion in ministry as his wife served the following California churches in our Conference: Cone Community in Los Molinos, Christian Fellowship in Fresno, Grace in Yuba City, and Rio Linda Community, until retiring in 2015. He continued to support her as she went on to serve the following in retirement up to the present: Rio Linda Community, Georgetown, Arbuckle, and Parkside in Williams, all in California as well.
Kent was an avid reader and loved all kinds of literature, especially philosophy and Westerns by Louis L’Amour. From his readings he became “a walking encyclopedia” of knowledge. Kent was born and raised in the Methodist church and met Debbie at First United Methodist Church in San Jose, California. They were blessed with 29 years together in marriage.
He is survived by his wife Debbie, and by his sons Dean Eric Blackstone of Red Bluff, California, and Dante Elmo Blackstone of San Jose, California, by 10 grandchildren, and by 7 “unofficially adopted” grandchildren. Condolences may be sent Debbie Dillon at 10864 Paiute Way, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670.
A virtual memorial service is planned for January 25, 2021. Further information will be shared as soon as we receive it.
Gifts in memory of Kent may be sent to Heifer Project International, at 1 World Avenue, Little Rock, AR 72202.
Let us continue to give God thanks for Kent’s life and witness and hold his family close in prayer. In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
Blessings,
Bishop Minerva G. Carcaño
