Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our sister, Helen Foster, surviving spouse of Rev. John Foster, died on Tuesday, November 13, 2018.
Helen was a faithful companion as her husband served the San Jose: First; Round Valley; Willits; Walnut Creek: First; Oakland: Elmhurst and Melrose; Delano; Rohnert Park: St. John’s; and Paradise churches, and as he served as District Superintendent of the Nevada Sierra District.
Over the years, Helen taught and served in a variety of settings, both paid and volunteer. She provided childcare, taught preschool, and was an elementary reading resource teacher. Helen was an active member of the American Association of University Women, and a past president of the Paradise and North Tahoe branches. At one time, she took flying lessons, and loved doing copper work and sewing.
Helen is survived by her children: Rev. Susan Foster of Reno, NV; Rev. Virginia Foster of Auburn, CA; and Barton Foster; and by six grandchildren. Condolences may be sent to Rev. Susan Foster at 735 Pennsylvania Drive, Reno, NV 89503.
The memorial service will be on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 1:00 pm, at Pioneer United Methodist Church, 1338 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA 95603.
Gifts in memory of Helen may be sent to the Retired Clergy Association Scholarship Fund (9328 Elk Grove Blvd. #105-141, Elk Grove, CA 95624), or to AAUW of North Lake Tahoe Scholarship Fund, checks made payable to Tahoe Truckee Community Scholarship Committee with “AAUW North Tahoe Scholarship” in the memo line (AAUW North Tahoe, P.O. Box 5612, Tahoe City, CA 96145).
Let us continue to give God thanks for Helen’s life and witness and hold her family close in prayer. In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
