San Ramon Valley UMC opens playground to community and hosts Trunk or Treat

Best. Sound. Ever.  At San Ramon Valley UMC, we’re loving the sound of kids giggling and climbing on our playground.

Pastor Kim Risedorph asked the congregation, “How can we be a blessing to the community around us during this time?” And Director of Family Ministries, Laura Roy, caught the vision and ran with it.  Some ideas worked better than others.

One of our favorites so far is opening our playground to families in the community.

To do that, we followed all county and local guidelines, trained volunteers to greet and sanitize equipment between uses, and only had one family on the playground at a time.  Kids, and parents, have been so appreciative.

That got us to thinking about a creating a safe Trunk or Treat event in our parking lot.

We worked with local officials, and got the thumbs up from the medical team advising the  County Supervisor about safe gatherings. If you’d like to see how we structured this event, we’re happy to share our plans.
