St. Marks to host CAIR Bystander Training

St. Mark's UMC in Sacramento is partnering with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) to provide an in person Bystander Intervention Training on Sunday November 6th from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm PT.  The training will be held at St. Mark's UMC MacMurdo Hall located at 2391 St. Mark's Way in Sacramento.

The training will provide guidance on how to access a potentially violent situation, how to de-escalate a situation before it leads to violence, and how to show both support and solidarity with a targeted person.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is a nonprofit, grassroots civil rights and advocacy organization. CAIR is America’s largest Muslim civil liberties organization, with affiliate offices nationwide. Its national headquarters is located on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.

Since its establishment in 1994, CAIR has worked to promote a positive image of Islam and Muslims in America. Through media relations, lobbying, education and advocacy, CAIR works to make sure a Muslim voice is represented. Through our work, CAIR seeks to empower American Muslims and encourage their participation in political and social activism.

The Bystander Intervention Training is a community event and all are welcome. Childcare will be provided and a light lunch will be available.

The event is free to all, and donations are welcome and appreciated.
