Peace with Justice Sunday: June 4, 2023, is the official date set to celebrate Peace with Justice Sunday, but we ask you to celebrate on the most convenient day for your congregation. Find ready-to-use resources for Peace with Justice Sunday at this link: https://www.resourceumc.org/en/churchwide/umcgiving/special-sundays/peace-with-justice-sunday-pastor-and-leader-kit
Half of the funds collected on Peace with Justice Sunday remain in California-Nevada Annual Conference. United Methodist congregations, affiliates, or even individuals can apply for grants from our Advocacy and Justice Committee to fund new programs or projects that advocate for justice and find peaceful solutions to social problems. Applicants have used Peace with Justice Grants to fund leadership training for youth, start a student food security program at UC Davis Peace House, and prepare a space to house asylum seekers.
The other half of the donations collected fund national and international peacemaking ministries and grants. We work with the World Council of Churches, interfaith and ecumenical bodies, and secular organizations for social-justice policies and programs that seek the wholeness of shalom for all of God’s people. Three different grants are available through Board of Church and Society to United Methodist congregations and organizations that support Ethnic/Minority Local Church ministries, and programs related to Peace with Justice Sunday. Donations support programs and ministries to educate, equip and mobilize actions in support of identified Economic, Health, and Gender Justice Priorities. Church and Society awards these grants annually.
We hope your congregation will participate in this important way!
