Don E. Jones: Longtime Conference Partner Passes

It is with great sadness and deepest condolences for the Jones family that we share the news that Don E. Jones died on November 10th following a long illness.  Jones was 73 years old and is survived by his wife, Cynthia, his daughter DawnL, and son Jerrid.

Don was the president of Berger and Jones Insurance, providing property and liability insurance to our local churches. He was instrumental in helping our Conference Council on Finance and Administration develop its first conference-wide insurance program.  He then went on to assist local churches in the Conference by educating them on best practices for establishing responsible insurance plans.  He led insurance related workshops in our local churches, attended local church meetings when church leaders invited him to help them consider their insurance policies, and assisted our churches with their property claims.   He faithfully served the churches of the Conference for 30 years.

California-Nevada Conference Executive Director of Finance and Administration Diane Knudsen shared, “Don cared deeply about our churches and worked tirelessly to make sure we had the best insurance program possible. The Council on Finance and Administration joins me in sending our deepest condolences to his family.”

In a public statement Don's children, DawnL and Jerrid shared the following. "For the last 30 years Donald E. Jones and Berger and Jones Insurance Agency have been blessed to be able to work with the CA-NV Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. We lost a great man this week when the lord called his name, but we rejoice in the work he has done over the years helping to protect the house of God. Don's legacy continues through the work of his beloved wife Cynthia Jones, daughter DawnL Jones, and son Jerrid Jones as they continue the important work of protecting the conference and its member churches at Berger and Jones Insurance Agency."
