ERT team removes flood damaged items from a mobile home January.
The California Nevada Conference sponsored an UMCOR Early Response Team (ERT) Training class on Saturday and Sunday. April 29th and 30th, 2023. The online class was taught by UMCOR Certified Instructors, Bob Lee and Leslie Carmichael.
Sixteen people successfully completed the class which includes information about what disaster response is, how to be an effective responder and how we organize to address disasters. The Conference deploys teams when asked and provides a “Caring, Christian Presence” to the survivors and help make their homes safe, sanitary, and secure.
Our ERT’s serve in Local Assistance Centers immediately after a disaster. Most recently, we deployed three teams to the Pajaro flood in North Monterey County. During 2023, we have responded to the earthquake in Humboldt County and floods in several Central Valley locations.
Classes are conducted a few times per year. We welcome you if you have an interest in becoming a trained ERT.
