Dr. Cheng brings over 30 years of experience in creating, planning and leading programs to develop leadership capacities in faith and non-faith-based settings. She also holds an M.S. degree in counseling, an M.Div., and B.A. in Sociology and East Asian Studies.

“I am delighted to support the leadership development of the clergy and laity at this crucial time as we exit the pandemic and seek to move together toward God’s good future with resolve and hope,” said Dr. Cheng as she prepares to assume her ministry as part of the conference. Mary has been an active lay person in the United Methodist Church for many years. She is married and has one son and one granddaughter and another on the way. “It is a joy and blessing to welcome Mary as part of our Conference’s team to deepen the leadership capacities of both lay persons and clergy. The coming season of her ministry will bring many opportunities for the churches of the California-Nevada Conference.”, said Rev. Craig Brown, Executive Director of Congregational Development, who will serve as Mary’s supervisor. Beginning on July 26 you can reach Mary at maryc@calnevumc.org.
