Kandi Weider is well known across California-Nevada for her investment in lay ministries, so when she says she has stepped out of her comfort zone, she is saying something. The life long member of Sonoma UMC and newly minted Lay Leader for the Los Rios District stepped into the pulpit at Sonoma on Sunday 31st, marking a new moment in her ministry journey.
Kandi's message detailed fond memories from her childhood at Sonoma including Children's Time in the sanctuary, playing the pump organ in the narthex, and singing in the youth choir. The seeds of ministry were planted within Kandi at an early age and she continues to grow in her ministry today.
California-Nevada Lay Servant Ministries have helped Kandi live into her calling. She said, "There was a need and because of the LSM classes I have taken I knew I could step in. The scripture I choice was Matthew 13:31-32 about the mustard seeds of faith. Many seeds have been planted into me to be the woman of faith I am today. It is always exciting to see the seeds that get planted with LSM classes.
So next time you are thinking about taking that next step, remember Kandi and explore your calling with the conference training available through Lay Servant Ministries.
