Gridley UMC begins snack bag ministry

The Gridley UMC started a new outreach ministry this week.  Due to the need for quick snacks for distribution to those who need food immediately, the Gridley UMC has instituted a snack bag distribution process.

Those who are in need of a quick bag of snacks such as a drink, crackers, health bars etc. can pick them up at the church on Saturday mornings between 10:00 and 11:00 am.  A total of 1000 bags were filled up by both members and community volunteers this last week. Also, church members and others will be encouraged to carry a number of bags in their cars for rapid distribution to anyone in immediate need of food help.

The blessing box daily fill up continues into its third year.  Seven to ten homeless residents frequent the box daily. The teddy bear distribution to the local hospital for the children in the emergency room is continuing into its seventh year.  Over that time approximately 2100 bears have been distributed to help children during their time of pain and stress.

We praise and thank God for our ability to serve our community by providing food for those in need and teddy bears to suffering children.
