“Get Your Spirit In Shape,” a United Methodist Communications’ podcast, is set to release its 100th episode on Thursday, September 30th as part of the agency’s International Podcast Day celebration. The milestone segment features Bishop Minerva Carcaño, the first Hispanic woman to be elected bishop within the denomination.

“Get Your Spirit in Shape,” launched in 2016, features casual conversations with a variety of guests, all aimed at providing United Methodists with relevant information to enrich their personal faith journeys. Through the years, Joe Iovino, who serves as both host and producer, has interviewed United Methodist pastors, authors and other church leaders on topics ranging from current events to grace lessons learned in “Les Miserables.”

“When ‘Get Your Spirit in Shape’ started as a monthly podcast, I wasn’t sure we’d be able to do 12 episodes, now here we are at 100,” Iovino says. “One hundred episodes means 100 conversations and I have enjoyed every single one of them. I have talked to pastors and authors, bishops and missionaries, well-known personalities and those behind the scenes who are doing amazing ministry.

“It is so exciting to know that this little project that began as an experiment, continues to grow and share spiritual nutrition and exercises that help us keep our souls as healthy as our bodies five years and 100 episodes later.”

To access the 100th episode on its September 30th debut date, listeners can visit the “Get Your Spirit In Shape” webpage, the agency’s International Podcast Day celebration webpage and/or its premiere post on the United Methodist Communications Facebook page starting at 10am CT.

“Get Your Spirit in Shape” is one of four podcasts produced by United Methodist Communications. The “MyCom,” “Pastoring in the Digital Parish” and “Compass” podcasts round out the selections. The agency’s podcasts are offered to help make ministry work more effective and spiritual journeys more fruitful. To access information on each visit ResourceUMC.org/podcasts.
