In November, First UMC of Bakersfield generously donated a well-equipped tool trailer to the Disaster Response Ministry of the California-Nevada Conference of the United Methodist Church. District Superintendent David Niu accepted this donation from Pastor Richard Thompson on behalf of the Conference.
Dedicated to Early Response Team use, the trailer will be available for deployment when teams provide disaster relief – wildfires, floods, earthquakes. It will facilitate rapid response since it is equipped with all the necessary tools and supplies.
The Bakersfield church had previously used the trailer for local disaster recovery. They now want it to be available as a Conference-wide resource. What a generous gift! As Bishop Sally noted, “These are tools of hope for survivors traumatized by damage to their home.”
The trailer will be stored at Los Altos UMC and stands ready to spring into action. Thank you First UMC Bakersfield!
