Easter Hill UMC joined with The One Accord Project, The Garden of Peace Ministries and the Contra Costa Department of Health Services to host a mobile COVID -19 vaccine clinic on April 7th.
The church opened its doors in an effort to get vaccines in the arms of community members from 10am to 2pm on the 7th. In 4 short hours 275 people received vaccines.
Rev. Dale Weatherspoon shared, "What a blessing to see people arriving with looks of anticipation and hope. Their arrivals were signs of hope people want to live, to live for themselves, their families and their communities. Hosting the clinics at churches, I believe, is a visible sign that the church cares for those in its communities. This is what it means to have our hearts, open doors and open minds, new ways of being in ministry. God is doing a new thing! May we have new eyes for seeing!"
Other area churches participating in the vaccine drive included Sojourner Presbyterian Church, Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, North Richmond Missionary Baptist Church, Greater El Bethel Baptist Church and Parchester First Baptist Church.
