Global Ministries and the Korean Methodist Church Mission Board gathered in person for a fruitful 2-day consultation on possibilities for partnership in mission. Leadership from the two organizations discussed potential areas for collaboration and focus, guided by mutual respect and rooted in God’s call to unity.
Bishop Sally Dyck, who serves both as our Interim Bishop and the Ecumenical Officer for the Council of Bishops was among those gathered. She and Bishop Chung Suk Kim, chair of the Korean Methodist Church Mission Board, presided over communion during worship.
Reflecting on the consultation, Bishop Sally shared, “The meeting of leaders from the Korean Methodist Church and the United Methodist Church was a great opportunity to resume collaborative conversations, sharing challenges as well as opportunities with an eye to see how we might work together. In addition to exploring our mission work throughout Asia, we were reminded again of the pain of division that exists on the Korean peninsula. We anticipate meeting again in Korea.”
