...And know that I am God.
The theme for the 172nd annual gathering of California-Nevada Conference annual is appropriate in all times, and perhaps never more pertinent than in this time of pandemic.
Plans for the rescheduled California-Nevada Annual Conference are well underway and the Commission on the Annual Conference Session is taking steps to make sure we are safe as we celebrate the 172nd gathering of our faith family September 18th through 22nd at the Doubletree Hotel in Modesto, CA.
California-Nevada is perhaps the most diverse conference within the UMC and we see that diversity in the cultures, ethnicities, and geographic regions across our two states that comprise the Conference. It is always a blessing when we can be in one space together.
Just as the Conference staff and leadership have developed protocols to keep us safe in this time of COVID-19, the Commission on the Annual Conference Session is also developing protocols for our gathering. The team is closely monitoring national, states and counties public health news and trends in anticipation of what September may bring.
Just as many of you have developed new ways to worship outside of your church buildings in this time of pandemic including online services, we will experience our annual conference session in some new and innovative ways this year as we continue to work to keep everyone’s health and well-being our primary concern.
As we plan for our time together, here are some changes caused by the impact of COVID-19:
Indeed, Annual Conference 2020 may be remembered as a time when, out of necessity, we lived into a shared new normal innovating policies and procedures that will continue to shape and grow our community in ways we can only now imagine.
The Commission on the Annual Conference Session will continue to share updates as they happen. Be sure to visit the annual conference page on the California-Nevada Conference website so you don’t miss any important information.
Blessings to each of you as we continue to build the church of the 21st century a day, a week, a month - a season at a time.
