ACS 2022 updates: Agenda, visitor registration and reminders

Annual Conference 2022 is a little more than a month away!

Here are a couple of reminders and tips to help you get ready for ACS 2022, June 10th - 13th at the SAFE Convention Center in Sacramento:

  • All members must register themselves for Annual Conference Session, we will not provide automatic registration.  Members of the 2022 ACS will receive emails with registration instructions and links and have until May 31st to complete their registration.
  • Members who have registered on or before May 15th will receive information and links for the May 20th Legislative Sections via email. Members who do not register on or before May 15th may still register for the in-person meeting June 10-13, but will not be able to participate in the virtual Legislative Sections.
  • Pursuant to paragraph 602.8 in the 2016 Book of Discipline of The United Methodist Church, full members, provisional members, and local pastors are required to be in attendance. Persons in these categories are asked to submit their requests to be excused from attendance at ACS to the Episcopal Office, Conference Secretary, and their District Superintendent. This year, we have created a new platform to make submitting and tracking these requests easier. Clergypersons requesting to be excused from all, or a portion of, ACS 2022 can do so by logging into their People Portal and filling out the ACS 2022 Excuse Request form no later than May 31, 2022. Lay members to ACS do not need to submit a request to be excused, but instead should work with their pastor to identify an alternate lay member to replace them.
  • Visitors will be able to attend ACS 2022 on a first come, first serve basis, but will be required to register. Visitor registration will open on May 6th.  Individuals being memorialized in the annual Memorial Service, or recognized in the Ordering for Ministry Service, can have up to four special guests in attendance for these respective worship services. These special guests will not require official registration as their attendance will be organized by the individuals coordinating those worship services.
  • COVID protocols from ACS 2021 will remain in place for ACS 2022.  Vaccinations will be required, and all attendees will be required to wear a KN95 mask. Due to children under 5 years of age being ineligible to receive a COVID vaccine, out of an abundance of caution, the Commission on the Annual Conference Session has decided to continue to suspend childcare services this year.
