Oroville Dam Update as of 2/15 (morning)

Following the lifting of the evacuation at 2 p.m. Tuesday, all three United Methodist evacuation centers (Sutter UMC, Chico Trinity UMC, and Roseville First UMC) shifted from active, to standby mode.  Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea announced that the evacuation order was lifted and that it was safe to return; however, there remains "an evacuation warning" that considers the possibility that there could be future changes in the situation.   With rain expected later this week, all three ...

Christmas Day Blanket Give Away

On Christmas day Laurel UMC went out in streets of Oakland to give away more than 60 blankets to the homeless. In addition, the youth sang carols and the Laurel choir sang the "Hallelujah Chorus." Throughout the month of December, the congregations collected blankets and felt that it was fitting to pass them out on Christmas day.
