Bishop Minerva G. Carcaño is making a total of 12 Episcopal Visits throughout the California-Nevada Annual Conference, this month and next, "to inform ... clergy and congregations about the actions of the General Conference and the implications for our conference and denomination."
The next visit in the series takes place Monday, March 25, 6:30-9:00 p.m., at Central United Methodist Church in Stockton.
In a letter to the conference in February, while the special-called General Conference was still taking place, the bishop announced the schedule for the visits and explained her vision for them.
"With the help of conference leaders, we will work to outline what unfolded in St. Louis and what those actions mean, followed by discussion with opportunity for questions," she wrote. "These visits will also be times of prayer and seeking God's way forward for our ministry in the California-Nevada Conference."
As with each of these visits, Monday's Episcopal Visit to Central UMC in Stockton is open to all clergy and laity from all the United Methodist churches of the Cal-Nevada conference. The previous events - at Los Altos UMC and First UMC of Sacramento - have been well attended, and conference leadership hopes the trend continues, so that as many people as possible will be able to receive, first hand, important information and insight into church process and the outcome of the actions of General Conference.
Central UMC is located at 3700 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, CA 95204.
