Missionaries

There are four missionaries from the California-Nevada Annual Conference in active service around the world (their bios are hyperlinked):  Marilyn Chan (Cambodia),  Katherine Parker (Nepal) (at right in photo above), Josh Van (Malaysia), and Claudia Genung (Japan).

United Methodist local congregations and others support missionaries through "covenant relationships." The CA-NV Annual Conference has a goal of $100,000 annually in second-mile giving as its share of the cost of missionaries. Local churches participate by establishing a "covenant relationship" with a particular missionary, which includes a pledge of $5 per member per year (up to $2500 per missionary). Missionaries typically work in the field for three years before returning for a period of “itineration” to visit supporting churches and prospective supporting churches. Covenant relationship churches have priority in scheduling visits. United Methodists support missionaries "From Everywhere to Everywhere." Other missionaries supported in this annual conference include Grace Choi, Jae Choi, Ken Cruz, Paul Jeffrey, Jane Kies, Larry Kies, and Gary Moon.
