Submitting Reports, Recommendations, Resolutions, and Petitions for the 2020 Annual Conference Session
5/11/2020

With the rescheduling of the 172nd Session of the California-Nevada Annual Conference from June 12-15 to September 18-21, the Commission on the Annual Conference Session has revised the timeline for submitting reports, recommendations, resolutions, and petitions for consideration.

Reports from conference agencies and officers, affiliated organizations and institutions received by August 31 will be published on the conference website prior to the Annual Conference Session. All reports received by September 30 will be included in the 2020 Conference Journal. Please submit reports via the online portal:
https://calnev-reg.brtapp.com/RSF20

Recommendations, resolutions, and petitions for consideration by the 2020 Annual Conference Session must be received by the Conference Secretary by August 1. (Items resulting from situations whose late development prevented their submission prior to the deadline may be considered by the session under the rules found in Division I. F. on page 329 of the 2019 Journal.) Recommendations, resolutions, and petitions will be submitted to the conference secretary using the online form found at https://calnev-reg.brtapp.com/RRPForm.

  • Recommendations normally ask the conference to take action or do something, such as amend one of its rules or add a task force.
  • Resolutions typically ask the conference to make a statement or say something, such as commend a public official for action or express condolences to a family or community following a loss.
  • Petitions invite conference members who favor a given action or statement to express their support by signing a document.
  • Petitions to the General Conference are efforts to amend, delete, or introduce a specific paragraph in The Book of Discipline, or a specific resolution in The Book of Resolutions, and may be submitted to the annual conference for its support. If approved by the annual conference, petitions are submitted by the conference secretary to the Petitions Secretary of the General Conference (please see ¶ 507, The Book of Discipline [2016]).

Please note the guidelines in our conference Standing Rules, Division I. F. 4. found on pages 328-329 of the 2019 Journal.

If you have questions, please contact the conference secretary by email at Mark.Wharff@cnumc.org or by text/voice at 209-614-3802.
