Over the past several weeks we have been sharing stories from the Dixie fire and the many ways our conference faith family is coming together to help with relief and prepare for recover efforts in the area.
As we consider ways we can be in ministry together, please remember that unless specific items are requested, material donations require space, organization and management. Unsolicited donations of items such as clothing, furniture, and toys require space, organization and management and are considered the ‘disaster within the disaster’, taking human and financial resources away from survivor recovery.
Here are some quick tips to help center our efforts and assist ongoing efforts with our conference Disaster Response Ministry and Volunteers in Mission.
Pray! Pray for all those whose lives have been impacted by these fires, including firefighters, relief workers, and those who are survivors of previous fires.
Give Now! Right now, our financial support is crucial. Our dollars make gift cards, hotel rooms, groceries, and clean water possible for our brothers and sisters affected by the Dixie Fire and their calls for help are coming.
Volunteer! Wildfire recovery is very much a ministry of presence and the gift of your time and talents would make a difference in the lives of our conference family this fire season
If you are interested in preparing much needed wildfire buckets contact Sonja Edd-Bennett, email@example.com, for details on what is required for fire buckets and where they are most needed.
Now is the time to be in ministry with one another.
