WHO WE ARE The Chinese United Methodist Church is situated in the heart of San Francisco’s Chinatown neighborhood. We have multiple worship services with members from all over the Bay Area. Our mission as a church is to grow in relationship with Jesus Christ and each other. Through Christian community we seek to increase in love and service, to the glory of God.

POSITION Part-time Ministry Worker (English-Speaking Congregation).

JOB DESCRIPTION The Ministry Worker will direct the worship service of the English-speaking congregation on a weekly basis. The Ministry Worker will work under the supervision of the Senior Pastor and the Staff Parish Relations Committee to provide an effective ministry to our members, their friends, and their families, that they might experience God, know Jesus Christ, follow the Spirit, and love others.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Pastoring the English-speaking congregation and leading the English speaking Sunday service, including delivery of sermons and working with the Worship Team. Participate in Sunday School classes to build relationship with members of the English-speaking congregation.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Mature Christian Commitment: must have a strong background in Christian experience and ministry; understanding of Chinese-American culture is a plus. Spiritual Vitality: love for God; passion for worship and a vibrant prayer life. Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: management experience; ability to lead a group towards a common goal; understanding of group dynamics; ability to listen and discern; disciplined, organized, clear communicator. Educational Achievement: currently enrolled at or graduated from an accredited seminary. Ordination is not required.
