Director Wanted for New After-school Center to Serve Youth with Developmental Disabilities in Orinda Compensation: $23 to $25 an hour depending on experience, 5 paid days off Employment Type: part-time or full-time Non-profit Consider joining our wonderful team and help create this new program which will open in August 2018! Small new after-school center for youth with developmental disabilities in Orinda is looking for a qualified director! We expect to serve 12 students with a 4 to 1 ratio. Students, aged 12 to 21, will be on site from 3:15 to 6:15 Monday through Friday. St. Mark’s Harmony Center (SMHC) is an extension of the overall program of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Its purpose is consistent with the purpose of the church and has been created to provide an after school program for special needs youth. SMHC will teach life skills, such as cooking, gardening, computer skills, recreational activities, meditation practice, prayer groups and social skills. We will also have enrichment activities in music and art. We will advocate for our students and parents as needed with their school district and The Regional Center of the East Bay. If you are interested in full-time work, we may be able to work with our preschool to offer morning hours. Qualifications: 1. A) A Bachelor’s degree in Child Development or related field, or B) A high school graduation or GED plus 15 semester units at an accredited college in specified early childhood education classes. Three of the units shall be in administration or staff relations and 12 units shall include courses that cover the area of child growth and development; child, family and community; and program/curriculum and four years of teaching experience in a licensed center or comparable group child center program, or C)Two years of experience if the director has an AA degree with a major in child development or D) A Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or child Development Program Director permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. 2. Minimum of 18 months’ experience in the management of a human services delivery system, or 5 years’ experience of a human services delivery system including at least 2 years in a management or supervisorial position. 3. Minimum of 2 years working with children, youth and/or adults with developmental disabilities 4. The demonstrated ability to provide staff training, supervision and planning 5. An aptitude for teaching life skills and overseeing enrichment programs 6.
