I write to you to share that our Conference Director of Communications, Dr. Larry Hygh, Jr. effective August 31, 2018, will be leaving his position to assume a new one. After 5 ½ years of dedicated service to the California-Nevada Conference Larry will be joining the staff of the Black AIDS Institute to serve as its Senior Communications Manager. While we will dearly miss him, this new opportunity will allow him to return to Southern California, something he has longed for. This transition comes on the 20th anniversary of his work as a United Methodist communicator. We celebrate Larry’s many years of service in The United Methodist Church, and send him forth with blessings as he continues his ministry in a new place.
As he shared his decision with me, Larry stated, “It has been a joy and privilege to serve as the chief storyteller for God’s people called United Methodists in Northern California and Northern Nevada. I will always be committed to our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”
If you would like to send him cards or letters, send them to the Conference Center, P.O. Box 980250, West Sacramento, CA 95798, and we will forward them to him. He can also be contacted via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our Human Resources Team is working on recruiting an interim director of communications with the hope of having a person in the permanent position by January 1, 2019. Let us hold Larry in our prayers with grateful hearts for his servant leadership, as we also pray for the next leader God will raise up for us.
