This year Bishop Dyck and the Appointive Cabinet would like to begin the process of sharing what we will refer to as “clear opens” in the annual appointment making process. These “clear opens” will consist of full-time and part-time appointment opportunities to local churches effective July 1, 2023. Additions to the list will be made as the Bishop and Appointive Cabinet move through the appointment making process over the coming months. Not all potential appointments will be listed, as in some instances the Bishop and Appointive Cabinet will already have a pastor discerned or because the opening comes too late in the process.
If you are interested in one of these churches, you are asked to contact your District Superintendent and provide them with a short explanation of why you are interested, and how you feel your gifts would be a good match for that ministry setting. Expressing your interest does not guarantee you will receive that particular appointment, rather it provides a way for you to ensure that you are intentionally considered as the Bishop and Appointive Cabinet discern possibilities.
Any expressions of interest in clear open appointments will be held in confidence by the Bishop and Appointive Cabinet. You are encouraged to learn more about any clear open appointment by reviewing the church’s website or social media presence and the pertinent year end statistical information provided in the Conference Journal. Please refrain from contacting the current pastor or folks affiliated with the particular congregation.
The hope is that this process will provide an additional avenue for consultation and constructive interaction between our clergy and the Appointive Cabinet and Bishop.
