Youth & Young Adults

Annual Conference Session (ACS), that time of the year when we’re looking for young people. We’re looking for youth grades 9th-12th and young adults age 18-35 to serve as voting and non-voting members of a youth or young adult delegation. You will have a chance to be a part of all that is ACS~ plenary and legislation sessions, worship, and fellowship.

What Exactly is Annual Conference and Why Should I Participate?

Annual Conference’s primary purpose is to take care of church business. Plenary sessions are large business meetings during which issues are brought to the church body’s attention through the form of making motions. These motions are discussed and voted on. Plenary lasts for multiple hours and can be somewhat tedious. However, as a young person representing your district, you are expected to remain attentive and to give voice and vote to issues that are vital to the work and mission of our church.  The other cool thing about Annual Conference is that it is an opportunity to not only experience powerful worship, fun and fellowship through our planned activities; but you witness all the wonderful things our church is doing in our communities and in the world. During Annual Conference we get to see the witness and the difference the United Methodist Church is making in the world! Young people have a vital role in the life of our Church. It is so important for other members of the Annual Conference to see young people wanting to impact the Church so that we can truly be about making disciples for Jesus Christ!

Each District has 4 youth and 3 young adult voting delegates plus additional non-voting participants.  Voting members are chosen based on board representation of individual churches, gender, ethnicity and age.
