Tonga, Vava'u

Location Vava'u

Mission volunteers will return to the remote village of Hunga, in the Vava'u District, continuing a relationship that was begun with that village in the aftermath of hurricane Waka in 2002. The team will do needed repairs and improvements on the church building, parsonage, and local grammar school. There will also be an after-school Bible school program for all children, and visitation to the elderly. If medical personnel are with us we will provide a village clinic, while dentists and/or medical specialists may help at the regional hospital, on a nearby island.

While on the island we worship with the local Wesleyan Church and have opportunities to fellowship with the people of Hunga. In all the work we are able to share the love of Jesus Christ while giving encouragement to the Christians of Tonga.

Our next trip is tenatively scheduled for 7/17/2013 - 7/30/2013

is again sponsoring a mission trip to the Tonga islands, in the South Pacific, July 17 through July 30, 2011. Richard and 'Ofa Thompson of First United Methodist Church of Bakersfield will be the leaders and hosts of this trip; both are fluent in Tongan and have led many groups to Tonga.  While on the island we worship with the local Wesleyan Church and have opportunities to fellowship with the people of Hunga. In all the work we are able to share the love of Jesus Christ while giving encouragement to the Christians of Tonga.
