Gathering of Ethnic Ministries: Conversations for Inclusion and Empowerment

March 12, 2014

The Commission on Religion and Race and the Committee on Ethnic Ministry and Outreach will be co-sponsoring "Gathering of Ethnic Ministries: Conversations for Inclusion and Empowerment" on Saturday, May 3, at 9 .m. at Genesis UMC, 220 S. Main Street, Milpitas. It is the first time leaders from all the racial/ethnic groups will be present.

The gathering comes as a result of the General Commission on Religion and Race's survey of the California-Nevada Annual Conference as to its "full and equal participation of the racial and ethnic constituency in the total life and mission of the Church." The survey produced results with concerns that are complex and multidimensional including ethnic leadership development for greater participation in the life of the annual conference at all levels.

There will also be "Celebrating Our Diversity Concert" on Friday, May 2, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Genesis UMC. All ethnic caucuses, ministry groups, and churches are invited to share their culture through dancing, singing, acting, and spoken word.
