March 05, 2014
The California-Nevada Annual Conference is pleased to announce the selection of Toua Yang as the communications associate. Yang assumes the post on March 17. He is a lifelong United Methodist and product of the annual conference who grew up in Oroville First UMC where his father the Rev. Chuckua Yang serves as the Hmong associate pastor. Since August of 2012, he has served as the administrative assistant at the conference center for the Rev. Linda Caldwell, Conference Superintendent for Mission Collaboration, and the Rev. Dr. Bener Agtarap, Conference Superintendent for Congregational Vitality.
"Thanks be to God for the opportunity to serve Him in this capacity," said Yang. "I am excited for the opportunities before me and look forward to collaborating with you (the annual conference) in our shared quest to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of this world."
He succeeds Jane Horstman who served as the technologies specialist since 2008. Horstman relocated to Mississippi. The position was slightly revamped to accommodate changing communications needs. Yang will become part of the two-person communications team with Dr. Larry R. Hygh, Jr.
