Methodist Church in Fiji President Dies

The Methodist Church in Fiji President, the Rev. Tuikilakila Waqairatu passed away Monday. Church General Secretary the Rev. Tevita Nawadra Banivanua confirmed that Rev. Waqairatu passed away at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital (CWMH) in Suva.
Rev. Waqairatu was admitted at the CWMH two days before he passed away. He was 66 years old.
The funeral is scheduled for Thursday, February 20, at 10 a.m. at the Centenary Methodist Church in Suva.

In 2012 The California-Nevada Conference and the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma joined in a bilateral agreement that guides our mission partnership. The goal in this partnership is to work together to cultivate a more intentional and effective mission with and for the Fijian Community within the bounds of the California-Nevada Conference and with the mission of the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma.
The Rev. Greg Bergquist, Conference Superintendent for Leadership Development, and Fijian leaders from the California-Nevada Conference will be attending the service next week.
