Easter Hill United Methodist Men host Western Jurisdiction President
February 04, 2014
Larry Dozier, Western Jurisdiction President for United Methodist Men (UMM) will be visiting the California-Nevada Conference this month. He will be the guest of Easter Hill UMC's United Methodist Men's group. Dozier will speak at Easter Hill UMM's monthly breakfast gathering this Sunday, February 9 at 8 a.m. All men in the United Methodist Church who would like to know more about UMM, or join in fellowship with Easter Hill's UMM group are welcome. Let the group know by noon Friday by calling Easter Hill UMM's President, Charles Phillips at (510) 799-0209. Easter Hill United Methodist Church is located at 3911 Cutting Blvd., Richmond, CA 94804. Easter Hill's UMM recently participated in the national gathering of United Methodist Men with 20 of their group in attendance.
Our Conference Co-Lay Leader, Gayle Shearman, also had opportunity to meet and hear Dozier at the winter Western Jurisdiction meetings last month, where he shared statistics about families becoming involved in church based on the family member who first joins the church - the percentage is the highest, at 93%, when the man is first to join the church. Dozier is encouraging United Methodist Men to become involved with the works of Ken Blanchard in his book "Lead Like Jesus."
He is an active member of Hollypark UMC in Gardena, CA. He was also one of the first graduates of the Certified Lay Ministers program at Claremont University. He has served in United Methodist Men at all levels of the church and is currently on the board of the General Commission of United Methodist Men.
