First Palo Alto UMC Volunteers In Mission (VIM) Trip to Tonga and Fiji

July 11, 2013

First Palo Alto UMC Volunteers In Mission (VIM) is currently on a trip to Tonga and Fiji. The service purpose is to visit two schools, one in Tonga and one in Fiji. From this the mission project received its theme of educational service. In Tonga, they are invited by the Houma Kindergarten and Middle School on the main island of Tongatafu where the work will commence on an encircling fence for the school yard using materials to be shipped by the mission team if funds prove available.

In Fiji, they will continue to relate to the Lotu Bible School in Nausori. This school, a center for training of at- risk young adults, is the recipient of last year's Centennial Endowment Fund (CEF) support. For that visit, they are bringing 55 books of general theology for those students trained for Church Local Pastor Leadership, a copy machine, and supplies for practical use in the school. They took a walking tour of the school that showed Lepani Verebasaga (FFFUMC Vakatawa) and the need for refurbishment of the infrastructure.
