Designate Workers Compensation Doctors effective February 1
Church Mutual Insurance Company is notifying churches that participate in the Conference sponsored by the Annual Conference by US Mail of a change in the program that becomes effective February 1, 2014. As of that date, injured parties will be treated by a participating medical provider in the Managed Provider Network, a division of Anthem Blue Cross. The change requires that churches notify all current and future employees of this change and keep track of when and how they notified the employee. Notification of current employees should be done as soon as possible and not later than March 1, 2014.
A listing of approved medical providers can be found on Church Mutual's web site under the heading of "Claim Center." On that page, you will find all of the necessary forms and a listing of approved providers under California Medical Provider Network.
Important: An employee has the option of choosing their own doctor, chiropractor, or acupuncturist for the treatment of work related injuries or illnesses. But, they must notify the insurance company of this desire prior to the injury. The form that needs to be completed and filed with the insurance company is found on the Church Mutual web site under Claim Center.
The purpose of this change is to hold down the cost of Workers Compensation claims, to provide expedited claim services and to get injured employees back to work sooner. All of this will lead to lower Workers Compensation costs to churches. More information will be provided by Berger and Jones Insurance, the Conference Program Administrator as soon as it becomes available.
