Rebeck Appointed Director of Deacon Support, Provisional Membership, and Certification
The Reverend Victoria Rebeck has been appointed as the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry's director of Deacon Support, Provisional Membership, and Certification in Specialized Ministry. The appointment, effective April 8, was made on the recommendation of GBHEM's search team and confirmed by Bishop Bruce Ough, bishop of the Dakotas-Minnesota Episcopal Area.
Rebeck is a deacon in the Minnesota Annual Conference, where she currently serves as the director of communications. She will conduct research and develop emerging ministries with deacons and diaconal ministers.
Rebeck will administer the professional certification program in specialized areas of ministry for clergy and laity and provide counsel to participants, annual conferences, colleges, and seminaries on certification studies and the certification process. She will also work on providing formation events for commissioned deacons, assisting in developing and planning continuing education events and retreats, as well as professional development and spiritual growth for deacons, diaconal ministers, and other clergy.
Rebeck is also co-chair of the Minnesota Annual Conference Board of Ordained Ministry and previously provided board oversight for conference relations of deacons. She received a master of Theological Studies from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and a B.S. in Journalism from Northwestern University.
