Cal-Nevada Conference Leadership to Attend 2013 Quadrennial Training Event

January 10, 2013

Does your leadership make a difference? How do you know what you need to learn for the future? What is the difference between a church and The Church, and what is your role in connecting both?

These are just a few of the questions that will be the focus of the 2013 Quadrennial Leadership Training event at which annual conference teams will come together with general agency staff to learn in Nashville, TN, Jan. 17-20, 2013. The theme "Even the wind and the waves obey him…" is from Mark, 4:35-5:1 which tells the story of the disciples leaving their familiar shore and finding themselves in the midst of chaos and uncertainty. Jesus questioned them and steadied them, and together they went out to new places of challenging ministry.

And too, our conference leadership team will push away from familiar shores to find a new sense of community out of which to address the needs of the world at the 2013 Quadrennial Training Event at which they will have the opportunity to:
  • Learn and practice skills for adaptive leadership
  • Think about and discuss the United Methodist Church's identity, purpose, current reality and future hope
  • Look at adaptive questions facing the UMC
  • Engage in conversation, training, and inspiration for facing the adaptive challenges calling us into the future
