Missionaries from Congo to Visit Cal-Nev Churches, Jan. 29-Feb. 10

December 13, 2012

Dr. David Persons and his wife Lorene (Lori) Persons, who are Global Ministries missionaries serving in Africa, will be visiting California-Nevada churches from Jan. 29 to Feb. 10, 2013. Their preliminary itinerary is to travel from north to south through the Annual Conference, starting with visits in the Sacramento Valley Jan. 29-31. They plan to be in Sacramento Feb. 1-2, near San Francisco Feb. 3-5, near San Jose Feb. 6-8, and in the San Joaquin Valley Feb. 8-10.

If your church is interested in hosting a visit during the available dates and you haven't already been in communication with the missionaries about a visit, please contact Conference Secretary of Global Ministries Howard Parker, at howard.parker@gmail.com or 415.261.7464.
David and Lori Persons work in theological education in Katanga, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Dr. Persons is the son of missionaries and was raised in DR Congo (called Zaire at the time).
Also, visits to California-Nevada churches during May 2013 are expected from missionary Katherine Parker, who has been serving in Cambodia in community health and agricultural development.
Each of these missionaries is commissioned by the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church and is available for covenant relationship with California-Nevada churches. Churches with covenant relationships receive priority in the scheduling of visits from missionaries.
