Your Gift to UMCOR Will Help People Recover from Hurricane Sandy

November 08, 2012

Even with advance notice, a natural disaster is devastating. But with the knowledge that Hurricane Sandy was bearing down on the East Coast, The United Methodist Church immediately prepared to help.

  • United Methodist Early Response Teams (ERT) from many states were put on alert, ready to deploy when needed.
  • United Methodist-trained volunteers are serving in shelters, helping thousands of evacuees.
  • United Methodist Annual Conferences readied response trailers equipped with tools and supplies, to help with the aftermath.
UMCOR has issued grants to New York Disaster Interfaith Services and to the New York, Greater New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, and North Carolina Annual Conferences. And there are 11,000 cleaning buckets and 150,000 health kits ready to deliver to survivors in Sandy's path.
But this is only the beginning!
Your gift today to UMCOR will help as they continue to respond with personnel, materials, and spiritual support to help people recover from Hurricane Sandy – long after the media spotlight goes away.
