Some January Dates Still Open for Singapore Missionaries to Visit Cal-Nev Churches

October 25, 2012

The Rev. George Martzen and the Rev. Dr. Chin Cheak Yu, General Board of Global Ministries (GBGM) missionaries who serve in Singapore, will be itinerating in the California-Nevada Annual Conference this winter and a few dates remain open for visits to interested churches during the Jan. 3-12, 2013 period.

Rev. Martzen serves now in the office of the Methodist bishop for Singapore. His wife, Chin Cheak Yu, teaches and serves as dean of students at Trinity Theological College in Singapore. George Martzen's home church is in Dinuba, California; they will visit it on Dec. 30, 2012.

If your church is interested in hosting a visit during the available dates and you haven't yet registered your interest, please do so right away by contacting Conference Secretary of Global Ministries Howard Parker, at howard.parker@gmail.com or 415.261.7464.

Visits to California-Nevada churches during the first half of 2013 also are expected from missionaries David and Lorene Persons, who have been serving in Congo in theological education; and Katherine Parker, who has been serving in Cambodia in community health and agricultural development. Dates for these visits have not been set, as yet. Contact Howard Parker to register preliminary interest.

Each of these missionaries is commissioned by the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church and is available for covenant relationship with California-Nevada churches. Churches with covenant relationships receive priority in the scheduling of visits from missionaries.
