Two Workshops Offered at San Ramon, Grace UMC in October

October 11, 2012

Grace United Methodist Church in San Ramon is hosting two workshops in October. This workshop ministry "A Gracious Space," invites others to learn and grow in faith and understanding.

Sunday, October 14, (12 – 1:30 p.m.): "Facing Fears with Faith in Hospital/Nursing Care Settings" will be led by the Rev. Karyl Estes. As a Chaplain with Kaiser Permanente, Karyl brings a wonderful set of gifts and insights into helping meet the needs of patients, family members and friends who are dealing with a serious illness or end of life issues. The Rev. Estes will help answer questions, calm anxieties and prepare your spirit to face any fears you may have.

Sunday, October 28, (12 – 1:30 p.m.): "Getting the Care You Want When You Need It the Most" will be led by the Rev. Dawn Boyd. You will learn about Five Wishes, the first living will program that talks about your personal, emotional and spiritual needs as well as your medical wishes. The Rev. Boyd will help you look at what you can do now to provide peace of mind for you and your family

This presentation will consider your wish for:

  • The person you want to make care decisions for you when you can't
  • The kind of medical treatment you want or don't want
  • How comfortable you want to be
  • How you want people to treat you
  • What you want your loved ones to know

Since 1997, Five Wishes has given millions of people the opportunity to express things that are important to them in documents that are legally valid.

Completing Five Wishes is a gift to your family, friends and doctor because it helps them with the difficult decision of what kind of treatment you may or may not want when you are unable to speak for yourself. In Five Wishes it is clearly stated.

There is no cost and reservations are not required.
