Hispanic Caucus Holds Yearly Meeting

On Saturday, February 21 the Hispanic Caucus of the California-Nevada Conference held a “Reunión del Pueblo” at Wesley United Methodist Church in Fresno. The purpose of this event was to bring together pastors and lay people from churches across the Conference that have Latino/Hispanic ministries. They worshiped and fellowshipped with one another and heard presentations by experts on AB 60 (driver's licenses for undocumented immmigrants), the President's Executive Order extending Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and creating Deferred Action for Parents of Childhood Arrivals (DAPA), and health care services available to undocumented immigrants. Approximately 50 adults and 12 children attended. The following churches were represented: Emanuel (Sacramento), Expresión Fresca (Fresno), Hollister, Salem (Lodi), Salinas, Selma, Soledad, Trinity (Bakersfield), Vida Nueva (Porterville), Visalia, and Watsonville.
