Lynnewood UMC Hosts Episcopal Bishop for July 19 Community Lecture

Lynnewood United Methodist Church in Pleasanton, California will host Bishop John Shelby Spong on Thursday, July 19 at 7 p.m. for a community lecture, "Shifting the Paradigm from Salvation to Wholeness – He did not die for our sins."

Spong, a retired bishop of the Episcopal Church, will speak to an audience of laity and clergy about his latest book, Re-Claiming the Bible for a Non-Religious World. His address will help launch Lynnewood UMC's vision, "Dare to question, love, and serve." The lecture is expected to stimulate questions and conversation about the Bible and the Christian faith.
