Japanese UMC Hosts Film Festival in Sacramento in July

June 28, 2012

Japanese United Methodist Church in Sacramento will host a three-day film festival in July.

The Sacramento Japanese Film Festival began as a one-day festival, Japanese Movies at the Crest, in 2005. In 2010, it grew to three days, with five films, and expanded to six films in 2011. This year, eight films will be shown!
The festival opens Friday, July 13 at 8 p.m. with the feature A Good Husband.
Saturday afternoon will be a fun day for younger filmgoers, with a great anime, Porco Rosso, by director Hayao Miyazaki, and A Boy and His Samurai.
And you won't want to miss the 2011 film, The Tsunami & the Cherry Blossom, by director Lucy Walker (in Japanese with English subtitles), on Sunday, July 15 at 3 p.m. Before the screening, members of Japanese UMC's United Methodist Volunteers in Mission team will give a brief report on their trip to Japan, one year after the great earthquake.
