'Taking You out to the Ballgame': a Shuttle!

June 14, 2012

Planning to attend the special event at Annual Conference Session? It's a fundraiser for Imagine No Malaria at the Thursday, June 21 River Cats baseball game (combined with a casual Bishop's Reception), and all United Methodists are being encouraged to attend.

If you will be going to the game from ACS, rather than from home, the trek from the Sacramento Convention Center to Raley Field is walkable (MapQuest® says it's 1.58 miles and can be accomplished on foot in 37 minutes), but you may prefer to drive if your car is easily accessible. There is plenty of parking at Raley Field, but it will cost you $10. (If you do decide to walk, please do so in pairs or a group, just to be on the safe side.)
Those are not your only options, however. We have arranged with Amador Stage Lines to provide shuttle service for the evening. A 40-passenger bus will make trips between the Convention Center and Raley Field beginning at 5:45 p.m., with the final run leaving the ballpark at 10:30 p.m. The cost will be $5 per person (cash) to cover the cost of the shuttle – and we will donate any proceeds beyond that cost to Imagine No Malaria.
Since the shuttle can seat just 40 people, it will have to make multiple runs – and it's possible that could delay your arrival at the ballpark. Please take that into account, when making your transportation plans.
Bishop Brown will arrive at Raley Field at approximately 6 p.m. and will greet well-wishers on the concourse inside the main gate (the gate located to the right of the ticket window, as you face the stadium) from that time until he is whisked away to throw out the first pitch. The game is scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m.
See you at the game – and be sure to visit the Imagine No Malaria table while you're there!
