The 50-80-Sunrise Circuit had a great turnout for its Change the World Event at Fisherman's Lake Park in Natomas on May 19, 2012.
Change the World, an annual event sponsored by Rethink Church, challenges congregations to reach out and become involved in their local communities – to make a difference globally.
"We had a really good turnout, including the youth group from St. Andrew's United Methodist Church of Sacramento and several young adults from St. Mark's United Methodist Church, also in Sacramento, and Cho-Un Korean United Methodist Church of Orangevale," reports Andrew Davis of Rancho Cordova UMC.
"After a short opening worship led by Pastor Tina Ballagh and myself (with Bill Ballagh and Linda Gerardy on guitars)," Davis writes, "everyone walked down to the site (probably about 3/4 mile to a mile) where we spent the morning clearing weeds, pruning bushes, and doing general cleanup of a small portion of bike trail, before enjoying a nice lunch together."
"It was a great day of getting to know one another and helping out the community."
Participating churches were Sacramento churches St. Andrew's UMC, St. Mark's UMC, Trinity UMC, and North Sacramento UMC, along with Community UMC of Rio Linda, Elverta UMC, Citrus Heights UMC, Fair Oaks UMC, Cho-Un Korean UMC of Orangevale, and Rancho Cordova UMC.
